LA is one Tasty City

While some food perverts will be spending Labor Day Weekend at beaches, lakes, or backyard bbq’s, plenty will be attending THE TASTE  presented by the L.A. Times at Paramount Studios.  This  impressive food event embraces LA’s top shelf restaurants for three days of incredible flavors and palate experiences.  Co-hosts this year include Michael Cimarusti (Providence, Connie & Ted’s), Sang Yoon (Father’s Office, Lukshon), Nancy Silverton (Pizzeria Mozza), and “cocktail chef” Matthew Biancaniello.

LAhas so much to offer as a culinary city and is really making it’s presence known as a destination for restaurant lovers.  Creativity is absolutely being explored by our city’s chefs.  Flavor and texture combos are being tested, mixing of cultures is happening.  It’s a very exciting time.  This event really showcases and brings together the best that LA has to offer food lovers.

Five different tasting events will take place Friday, August 30th through Sunday Sept. 1st.  Friday’s “Opening Night” will set mouths on fire, welcoming and celebrating the hosts and chefs participating all weekend long, with food, cocktails, wine and live music!


Saturday brings guests two dining experiences: Field to Fork with hosts Russ Parsons and Michael Cimarusti  and Flavors of LA with hosts Jonathan Gold and Sang Yoon.  Field to fork is a showcase of seasonal and locally raised and grown ingredients.  Some participating restaurants include Bibigo, Canelé, DOMA, Farmshop, good girl dinette, Hamasuku, Michael’s on Naples, Momed, Mr Chow, Muddy Leek and Nobu.

Flavors of LA will focus on “The Power of Pop-ups” and offer tastings from 800° Degrees, Angelini Osteria, Border Grill, Bulgarini Gelato, Chakra Indian Cuisine, Chichén Itzá, City Tavern, Mayura, Meals by Genet, Pinches Tacos and Wood & Vine.

Sunday will round out the weekend with the Labor Day Block Party hosted by Noelle Carter and Nancy Silverton and Cocktail Confidential hosted by Betty Hallock, Jessica Gelt, and Matthew Biancanciello.  The block party will pay special attention to art of BBQ and will include restaurants BOA Steakhouse, Brite Spot, Café Gratitude, Coni’Seafood, Freddy Smalls: Bar & Kitchen, Got Kosher?, Haven Gastropub, Juan’s Restaurante, Kings Row Gastropub, Pizzeria il Fico, Pono Burger, Rosebud Cakes and Waffles de Liege.

The closing event, Cocktail Confidential, will highlight the romance between food and drink pairings and offer demos by some of LA’s finest food and drink combo masters.  Expect deliciousness from Chi Lin, Cliff’s Edge, Jitlada, L&E Oyster Bar, Manhattan Beach Creamery, Mexikosher, The Pub at Golden Road Brewing, Stella Barra, The Cake Mamas, The Corner Door, The Counter, The Park Restaurant, Worldwide Tacos and Zengo.
